Young Archie Finalist 2025
At A Little Bite Studio, we believe the most powerful art comes from the heart. This year, we are beyond proud to celebrate one of our own—Irene (age 9)—who has been selected as a Young Archie 2025 finalist, one of only 70 chosen from over 3,200 entries across Australia in this nationally recognised children’s portrait art competition.
Irene’s portrait, titled “My Special Dad,” will be exhibited at the Art Gallery of New South Wales from 10 May to 17 August, alongside the renowned Archibald, Wynne, and Sulman Prizes.
In her words:
“This artwork portrays my dad, who is strong and special to me. One day we visited a pet café and I was too scared to pick up a cat, so my dad bravely held one. He’s always there for me and ensures I have everything I need. The bottles in the background represent his wine collection and the chequered pattern reflects his organised nature. Despite moments of frustration when I was drawing this, I pushed through to capture his strength and love.”
We’ve had the joy of watching Irene grow—from stepping into our studio with a plushie in hand, to creating deeply personal, thoughtful artwork. She’s a perfect example of how art lessons for 9 year olds in Sydney can be about more than drawing—they’re about learning how to express emotion, tell a story, and persevere through the creative process.
While competitions like the Young Archie are exciting milestones, our focus is always on the journey. At A Little Bite Studio, we believe in encouraging confidence through kids’ art classes, helping children feel proud of their effort, no matter the outcome.
💛 A Big Congratulations to All Our Entrants
We also want to celebrate every single young artist from our studio who entered the Young Archie this year. Whether your work was selected or not, we are so proud of your bravery, effort, and creativity. Putting your art into the world is an act of courage—and you’ve all done something amazing.
