5 Minutes with Lisa Clark from Little Henrio

Q & A WITH LISA CLARK

Little Henrio: Hi, I’m Lisa Clark the creator for Little Henrio and I am mum to four year old Henrio, the namesake of my company. I am also a primary school teacher and have such a love for inspiring creativity within children.

What do you do?

Little Henrio takes your artwork and prints it onto cotton fabric and sews a keepsake outfit.

Little Henrio is the original wearable art outfit brand in Australia. Our focus is embracing the joy and connection that is built through creating art and printing that art onto 100% cotton. Your one of a kind artwork is used to hand make a wearable art outfit by Little Henrio.

Tell us more!

I have always been a creative person and have really embraced my love for creativity since having my little boy. Henrio has sensory aversions and disliked messy hands as a baby. As his mum my heart was breaking watching him struggle to participate in daily activities.

I made it my mission to help him embrace creativity and all the joy, and sometimes mess, that it can bring. We worked together for over a year to get him to be able to touch paint and enjoy the sensation on his hands. By the time Henrio was ready to actually create with paint my heart was bursting. Bursting with joy, passion, pride and so much love.

Henrio’s work was such a joyous mix of colour. The smile on his face when he was creating, the joy in my heart, I wanted to capture this moment and remember it forever. But I also wanted to do more than simply put his art on the fridge. I searched online and could’t find anything that would allow me to treasure this moment. So I decided to create a brand that not only captures stunning art but also captures the memories made when creating art.

How would you describe your wearable Art in three words?

memories, creativity, joy.

Little Henrio represents moments in time. Our aim is to capture memories and make them into a beautiful keepsake that can be treasured forever. We love making outfits from art that has been a birthday party artwork, from cards that have been made for parents, from school art projects, from lockdown art made with parents and children, babies and toddlers first drawings. Anything that has a memory behind it makes the wearable art so special. Little Henrio captures the process of the art that has been made and the final product is a memory of this process.

Tell us about your favourite memory/ client!

My favourite memory that I captured was a dress that I made for a young 6 year old girl. Together with her 73 year old grandmother they drew a beautiful rainbow and coloured it in all of their favourite colours. Grandma was not well and her family knew that she didn’t have long to create moments with her granddaughter. I was honoured to create one of these precious memories for the family before she said goodbye. The little girl now has a treasured piece that brings smiles to the families faces.

Biggest challenge?

As a small business my biggest challenge is ensuring that I have the best and highest quality fabric that has been ethically sourced. Little Henrio uses 100% cotton that is printed in Australia. We hand make all of our outfits and have tested all of the patterns before creating.

Tell us what you love!

I love creativity. I love what we create when we give our minds permission to break free and just be in the moment. It’s not always the product but also the process that makes art such a magical experience.

Thank you so much for introducing yourself to us Lisa!

Ps. Lisa has kindly offered us a 10% discount if you wanted to create any wearable art pieces with Little Henrio.
